At 95, Dottie Schneider dreamed of sitting by the ocean, toes in the sand, watching the waves with her daughter. But confined to a wheelchair, that dream seemed impossible—the beach was right there, yet out of reach.

That’s when the lifeguards stepped in. On their very first day, one carried Dottie across the sand and promised it wouldn’t be the last time. For the rest of the week, Orange Beach Surf Rescue showed up daily—lifting her gently, escorting her to the shoreline, and making sure she never missed a moment by the water.

They didn’t see a burden. They saw someone who deserved joy. And they gave her exactly that.

By week’s end, Dottie and her daughter were overwhelmed. “It was magical,” her daughter said. “Better than Disney World. They made my mom feel special.”
