In 2018, during the tragic Parkland school shooting in Florida, 15-year-old Anthony Borges showed extraordinary courage.

As shots rang out, Anthony tried to lock his classroom door to protect his classmates. He was hit five times — in his legs and back — but still managed to hold the door closed, keeping the gunman out.

Because of his bravery, about 20 students inside that classroom survived.

Anthony spent weeks in the hospital and underwent multiple surgeries, but his story remains one of selfless heroism in the face of horror.
