Four years ago, we met a dog who desperately needed a home. His owner, a postal worker, loved him but could no longer care for him — long hours meant he spent up to eleven hours a day in a crate. If we hadn’t taken him, he was going to a shelter.
We expected hesitation, maybe sadness. Instead, he ran to us with joy, hopped into our car without fear, and curled up on the couch that very night as if to say: I’m finally home.
There were no cries for his old life, no restless nights — only trust, only love. Over the years, he’s become more than a pet. He’s family. He reminds us daily that adoption isn’t just about saving a life — sometimes it’s about completing your own.
