The Woman Who Gave Hope

In 2016, a heartbreaking photo went viral: a starving 2-year-old boy in Nigeria, abandoned and left to eat trash for months, was given water by Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Lovén.

Moved by compassion, Anja took him in, naming him Hope  —a symbol of new beginnings. Today, Hope is a healthy, joyful child living with 34 other children at the orphanage Anja and her husband founded. Beyond rescuing him, the couple continues to lead humanitarian projects across Africa, fighting for the rights and dignity of every child.
